FEATURES
What we liked about the Baby Trend Twins Nursery Center
The Baby Trend Twin Nursery Center is the perfect solution for parents with twins.
It features two removable side by side bassinets (known as Rock-A-Bye), with their own canopy and carry handle, plush fabric and mesh sides for proper ventilation for removability.
Each bassinet includes 2 toys. Each Rock-A-Bye detached from the Nursery Center can be converted into a standalone rocker.
Also, each Rock-A-Bye has its own soothing center with light music and sounds, nightlight and vibration.
It is also portable with 2 wheels and you can pack everything into a travel / storage tote bag when you need to travel.
And when your twins have grown out of the bassinets, you can make full use of the playard until they are about a year old or 15 lbs each.
What we didn’t like about the Baby Trends Twin Nursery Center
The soft material in the bassinet is difficult to spot clean and it soaks up spit up and blow outs.
(The bassinet liner, mattress pad, and fuzzy mattress cover can be removed separately, and washed on delicate cycle and hung to dry)
Also the mesh walls allow spit up through all the way down to the bottom of the pack and play.
With the models that have the changing table, you will need to remove one bassinet in order to place the changing table.
It does make sense as you’ll be changing one baby and the other will be in the bassinet.
However, in reality it can be a little difficult to manage (especially if and when both babies have a blow out about the same time...it can happen to twins!)
Lastly, the wheels, they are not very smooth as they lock up occasionally.

The Joovy Room2 Portable Playpen + Room² Twin Nursery Center Bassinet Playpen Accessory
Note: There are two separate products here from the same company.
Basically it is a combination between a twin bassinet and playpen. The Twin Nursery Bassinet is an extension accessory from the Portable Playpen.

Use the Room² Twin Nursery Center’s bassinet at full size, or zip in the divider for twins.

What we liked about the Joovy Room2 Portable Playpen + Room² Twin Nursery Center Bassinet Playpen Accessory

The Bassinet accessory has a flippable changing station and you’ll just attach on the top of the bassinet accessory so you don’t need to bring out one of twins to fit the changing station.
Last but not least, Joovy offers a 2 year warranty.
What we liked about the Joovy Room2 Portable Playpen + Room² Twin Nursery Center Bassinet Playpen Accessory
First of all, please be aware that there are 2 separate products here. One is the playpen and the other is the bassinet accessory with the attachable changing station.
It can be confusing that getting the twin nursery center bassinet playpen accessory also includes the playpen, it does not! The Joovy Room2 Portable playpen is a separate item altogether.
Since both are complementary to each other, we don’t quite understand just why Joovy didn’t make an option to purchase this as one single product.
Other than that, the bassinet accessory dips in the middle so it may cause babies the roll to the middle.

Graco Pack n Play Twins Playard Bassinet
Graco, the company
Even from the start, Graco parents have been teaming up to help other parents. Graco was founded in 1942 as Graco Metal Products. But the Graco story really begins in 1953, when engineer Rex Thomas dreamed up the company’s first baby product: the Swyngomatic automatic baby swing.
"At Graco, we want parents to know we have you in mind–because we're parents, too. We've gingerly buckled our newborns into their first car seat and joyfully introduced them to friends and family. We've changed midnight diapers and watched our little ones discover the big world on neighborhood strolls. We know that life as a parent can be messy, exhilarating, silly, and exhausting–sometimes all at once! But the one constant is the love we feel for our kids. That's why we thoughtfully design Graco products with parents and babies in mind. We've done the research and the testing to design quality baby gear with the comfort and convenience features you want."
Graco Pack n Play Twins Playard Bassinet
The Graco Pack n Play Twins Playard Bassinet is first and foremost a pack n play or playard.
The playard was modified to include a pair of bassinets.
Both bassinets are equipped with canopies to shield your twins from bright lights.
When your twins outgrow the bassinet, you can easily switch to the playard for more room to play or sleep.
Bassinet: Infants up to 15 lbs and unable to push up on hands and knees (one child per side).
Playard: Children up to 35" tall, unable to climb out
What we liked about the Graco Pack n Play Twins Playard Bassinet
Pack n Plays built with bassinet for twins are always a good thing. It saves you money in the long run especially having twins, you will need almost double of everything.
The Graco Pack n Play Twins Playard Bassinet is a simple pack n play with bassinet without the frills and at an affordable price.
The Graco Pack n Play Twins Playard Bassinet is easy assembled and disassembled. Comes with a storage bag so you can travel with it conveniently.
What we didn’t liked about the Graco Pack n Play Twins Playard Bassinet
We actually thought that the bassinets were two separate units that could be taken out one at a time. Turns out they are all one piece and not removable.
Since it is basically a one piece bassinet with 2 canopies , it was sharing the same mattress.
You have to change the entire sheet if either baby has a blow out or leaky diaper. Lastly, the bassinet tends to sag in the middle so babies will end up rolling to the middle.

Halo Twin Bassinest
Halo - the company
For over 25 years, HALO®’s mission has been to create simple, innovative products that make safe sleep easier for you—and more comfortable for your baby.
The founder of HALO® lost his firstborn to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and he has made it his life’s mission to ensure another family wouldn’t have to experience the same tragedy.
The Halo Twin Bassinest
Just like the flagship bassinest, the Halo twin bassinest is a double bedside co-sleeper bassinet with lowering side walls.
The highlight of all of the HALO® Bassinest Swivel Sleepers is that it has a 360° swivel and rotation so you can tend to your twin babies at all angles.
What we like about the Halo Twin Bassinest
All around mesh walls offer maximum breathability (and visibility) and provide your twins with the togetherness they crave, while ensuring the safety of separate sleep spaces.
Swivels and rotates 360 degrees to bring either of your twins to you for close, safe sleep and to make getting in and out of bed hassle-free.
This allows better flexibility for twin mommies who are breastfeeding and helps c-section twin mommies not to aggravate their wounds when tending to their twin babies.
What we didn’t liked about the Halo Twin Bassinest.
Although you can carry the bassinet bed , the bassinet does not have wheels so you may need to carry it around.
It is also more pricey than the other bassinets that we have reviewed but with the uniqueness and features, it is quite worth the price.
PROS
CONS
Why bassinet?
It is smaller and probably more portable than a full size crib. When you are having twins having two full size cribs may not be the best especially if space and portability is a concern.
A bassinet is a great option but for twins, you'll need to ensure that you are looking for double bassinets.
The bassinet has evolved over the years from a simple wicker Moses basket to having more than a dozen variations in the market today.
Most bassinets today can be categorized into 3 types
Free standing bassinets
Free Standing bassinets are basically a bassinet basket with leg stands to support it. Main difference between bassinets and cribs is the depth.
Bassinets are great for c-section and breastfeeding moms so they don’t need to bend and reach down for their babies compared to cribs which are deeper.
Bassinets are also more portable compared to a crib.
Cosleeper / Bedside Bassinet
A co-sleeper bassinet is a bassinet that allows the bassinet to be integrated to the parent’s bed, essentially allowing parents to have a watchful eye over the baby.
For moms, especially when breastfeeding, allows you easy access to pick up your baby in the sleep deprived 3am feeds.
It is also great for c-section moms who need bed-rest to recuperate , allow their wounds to heal and with their baby right next to them.
Multipurpose
Multipurpose bassinet is usually the mix of bassinet functions which are simply marketed as 2 in 1 or 3 in 1. I’ve just recently found one that is 4 in 1.
For instance, a multipurpose bassinet can is a bassinet and also a pack n’ play. Some have multi functions such as a changing station and high chair as well.
Multipurpose bassinets are practical as bassinets are usually used up to 5-6 months and babies will graduate to a pack n’ play.
Playard / Pack n Play
This is a good option but when twin babies are newborn to about 5-6 months.
A bassinet could be a better option as it strains your lower back less, need to bend less compared to a playard which is deeper.
A few of our recommendations are bassinet cum playard/ pack n play and once twin babies are about 5-6 months you can graduate them to the playard/ pack n play.
The American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) recommends an infant to be placed on their backs to sleep from birth until 1 year old. It also recommends a firm sleep surface for babies to sleep on.
The AAP also recommends bassinets for babies to sleep in (other than crib, portable crib or playard) and it is also advised for babies to room share (without sharing beds) with parents for the 1st 6 months.
So, bedside bassinets are ideal for parents especially breastfeeding and c-section moms.
All of the recommended bassinets for breastfeeding above are also in compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
While CPSC is the body that sets the safety regulations for manufacturers to comply, essentially a product with the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) seal is the stamp of approval for the bassinet or product to be fully compliant of all set out safety standards.
What are the features/ to look out for when getting a bassinet for twins
Functionality
The obvious would be to have double bassinets. However, there might be other key functions to be aware of such as breastfeeding and c-section twin mommies.
About 75% of twin births are via c-section, that means it can be painful and inconvenient for mommy to keep getting up to nurse and comfort twin babies every 2-3 hours in the first few months of birth.
Bedside or co-sleeping bassinets are great for this.
Stability /Sturdiness/ Built
Many baby gear furniture needs to be built safe - i.e. sturdy and stable.
Bassinets for twins need to be sturdy and stable as they are keeping 2 babies safe, so it is very important to have a sturdy and well-built structure.
Please make sure the bassinet is not flimsy or tilts to one side.
Portability
Bassinet with wheels is definitely one that is more advantageous as you can move it from room to room in the house.
Also, you may want to consider a bassinet that is easily folded and transported so you can bring it along should the need of travelling arise.
Ventilation / Mesh Sides
Bassinets are smaller compared to cribs and your baby is likely to move around or toss from side to side when sleeping.
Having a meshed wall (if the bassinet is fully mesh it’s even better) allows better air flow and ventilation.
It can be also a suffocation hazard if the sides of the bassinet prevents the baby from breathing property (especially non-breathable material).
Mattress
A good waterproof mattress (or mattress protector) is important so you can simply wipe off baby’s vomit or spit.
Also, it is easier for you to clean the bassinet if there are any blowout or diaper leaks. So make sure you choose a bassinet that has a waterproof mattress. Or else you could use a bassinet waterproof fitted sheet or mattress protector
Storage
Babies need a few essentials such as diapers, a set of clean clothes, baby wipes and toys to sooth them and much more.
Breastfeeding as well has a few essentials like nipple creams, nursing pads, water bottle, breast milk collector like Hakkaa and etc.
You don’t want to be searching for them when you need them. You should pick a bassinet that has a storage basket or compartments to keep these essentials within easy reach.
If they don’t have any, you could look out for storage caddies to help you. When you have a set of twins, everything doubles, so storage caddies are really important to have.
Budget / Renting
If getting a bassinet is going to blow a hole in your wallet, you may consider renting from Babyquip. They also have rental plans for other baby gear and essentials.
Safety
Last but not least, safety. You should pick a bassinet that is sleep safe and certified by relevant bodies such as JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association) and CSPC (Consumer Product Safety Commission). These certifications are based on American Academy of Paediatricians (AAP) Safe Sleep recommendations and in compliance with American Society for Testing & Materials standards.
FAQ
Can you put twins in the same bassinet?
Yes. But it has to be big enough for both to sleep in it.
This is called co-bedding and is perfectly safe. In fact, putting twins in the same cot can help them regulate their body temperatures and sleep cycles, and can soothe them and their twin.
What should newborn twins sleep in?
The American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP) recommend that Infants should be placed on a firm sleep surface (eg, mattress in a safety-approved crib) covered by a fitted sheet with no other bedding or soft objects to reduce the risk of SIDS and suffocation.
Such sleep surfaces include crib, portable crib, play yard or bassinet
How can I manage twins at night?
Consistent sleep time is essential for all babies. For twins, it is important that you establish a sleep routine for both.
Syncing both sleep and feeding times for twins will allow you to manage your time better and more time to sleep and rest. Don’t be shy to ask for help!
FINAL VERDICT
For the Best Bassinet for Twins, we certainly recommend the Baby Trend GoLite® Twins Nursery Center as our no. 1 choice. It is the most complete nursery center for twins with double bassinets equipped with rocker, soothing center, changing table, storage caddy for baby and mommy essentials and expandable playard.
With almost 3 quarters of twin deliveries done via c-section, we understand that getting up and down to nurse and soothe the baby can be tiring and aggravate mommy’s c-section wound, we believe the Halo Bassinest Twin Sleeper is the best option. Mommy can remain in bed resting but still close to her babies to nurse and tend to them with ease and comfort.
You could also choose 2 single bedside co-sleeping bassinets like the Baby Delight Beside Me Dreamer & Bedside Bassinet or the popular Mika Micky Bedside Bassinet, one at daddy’s side and one on mommy’s side.
