The Baby Delight Beside Me Dreamer Bassinet and Bedside Sleeper
Baby Delight Beside Me Dreamer Bassinet & Bedside Sleeper is a bedside bassinet for c-section and breastfeeding moms. Lightweight yet sturdy , it allows for c-section and breastfeeding moms to tend their little one from the comfort of their bedside without needing to get up every now and then and go across the hall or another room to feed and soothe.
There are 2 versions of the Beside Me Dreamer Bassinet, the standard one and the Somni. The main key difference between the two are the Somni has an additional storage bad and soothing center (light , sound and vibration controls for soothing baby)

What we like about the Baby Delight Beside Me Dream Bassinet
The Baby Delight Beside Me Dreamer Bassinet is lightweight and even without wheels, it is easy to glide it around. It weighs only 19lbs but it is sturdy. It also comes with a waterproof fitted sheet so you could wipe any spills or baby’s spit out. Having the storage basket is also extra comfort as you can reach out to your breastfeeding or baby essentials without needing to get up from the bed.
Also, you can set the incline setting by putting the height adjustment levels higher for one post than the other. It has 6 height settings, so putting one on 6 and another 4 will give you an incline setup, perfect for reflux and colic issues.
It is also JPMA certified so you can be sure that the bassinet is sleep safe for your little one.
What we don’t like about the Baby Delight Beside Me Dream Bassinet
We still think it should have wheels to make it the perfect bassinet for c-section moms. It is lightweight though but wheels will certainly make it better.
Another pet peeve with this bassinet is that it is a little lower than most beds at the highest setting, so there may be a gap between your bed’s mattress and the bassinet. It is not so much of an issue as the gap is only a few inches, but this may be an obstacle to breastfeed lying side to side with your little one.

HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper
Halo - The Company
For over 25 years, HALO®’s mission has been to create simple, innovative products that make safe sleep easier for you—and more comfortable for your baby. The founder of HALO® lost his firstborn to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and he has made it his life’s mission to ensure another family wouldn’t have to experience the same tragedy.
The HALO® Bassinest Swivel Sleepers - What is It?
With such a passionate mission, it is clear that HALO®’s products are genuinely dedicated to ensure safe sleep for babies and comfort for parents. The HALO® Bassinest Swivel Sleepers are made for this purpose.
This unique bassinet is a bedside co-sleeper except that its side walls can be lowered instead of detachable or removable like the other bedside co-sleeper bassinets we have reviewed. The highlight of the HALO® Bassinest Swivel Sleepers is that it has a 360° swivel and rotation so you can tend to your baby in the bed at all angles.
There are 3 main variants of the product basically with increments (in line with pricing increments) from the base product. Additional features such as soothing center with sounds, lights and vibrations to give baby all its comfort, machine washable fabric, removable storage caddy, removable bed, newborn insert and better product finishing.

What we like about the HALO® Bassinest Swivel Sleeper
The build of this bassinet is just simply excellent. It was designed and created to ensure a breastfeeding and c-section mom’s concern and baby’s safety and comfort. As mentioned earlier, the sidewalls do not detach but it is lowered as and when you reach for your baby. The weight of your arms will release the side wall and return back to its place once you place your arms away.
Another unique feature of the HALO® Bassinest Swivel Sleeper is that despite having no wheels, you can swivel and rotate the bassinet all any angle making it easy for breastfeeding and c-section moms. Also the 360 rotation also helps getting out of bed easier, especially when recovering from childbirth.
Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) certified independently tested to meet or exceed all U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada safety standards for bassinets.
It is also ideal for small , confined spaces as the low profile legs that tuck under bed and require only 32” clearance from the wall.
For some of the more premium variants, the bassinet bed is removable so you can use it on and off the base allowing you to bring the baby to anywhere in the house comfortably.
What we didn’t like about the HALO® Bassinest Swivel Sleeper
Although you can carry the bassinet bed , the bassinet does not have wheels so you may need to carry it around.
The bassinet itself is firm but there have been complaints that the bassinet shakes when baby is moving around especially during startle reflex.
Also, the bassinet has a slight tilt.
Quick Note
Only the Luxe plus series comes together with the Halo bassinest newborn insert, however you can get this separately

What we like about the Chicco Next2Me Bedside Bassinet
Overall, this is a bassinet for breastfeeding moms that is hard to beat. It is a bedside bassinet complete with rocker / swing so you can soothe your fussy little one.
For breastfeeding moms, babies do spit out and may even vomit a little after feeding. Bassinets are usually flat. However, the Next2Me has an incline option to reduce vomit and spitting up. This is great especially after feeding you can just place the baby on the Next2Me instead of moving the baby around to another carrier.
The opening panel of Next2Me bassinet to your bed is just a simple latch and once unlatched you can get to your baby just arm’s reach away.
It also comes with 4 castor wheels on all models , so you can move the bassinet around especially to different rooms in the house.
Finally, the Next2Me bassinet is easy to assemble and disassemble. You can easily fold it and keep in a travelling bag (that comes with it) when you go travelling.
What we didn’t like about the Chicco Next2Me Bedside Bassinet
The biggest issue about the Next2Me is probably the price tag. It does come in at a little bit more pricey than the others recommended below.
However, we believe it is worth the price paid because it is a remarkable bassinet and assembled with good sturdy materials and with the strong reputation of the Chicco brand.
The major downside is that the Next2Me bassinet may not be suitable for low beds as the minimum height of the bassinet is 26 inches.

Arm's Reach Mini Ezee 3 in 1
Arm’s Reach - The Company
Arm’s Reach is well known for its co-sleeper bassinets and has been endorsed by many paediatricians, ob/gyns and infant care specialists for more than 2 decades. Over the years it has also won numerous awards for its flagship co-sleeper or bedside bassinets.
Arm’s Reach is possibly the first company that conceptualized the bedside co sleeper bassinet before any other and they are still focussed on delivering the best bassinets for breastfeeding until today. It is also the first patented co-sleeping product that attaches securely to the parent’s bed.
Arm’s Reach Mini Ezee 3 in 1 Bedside Bassinet
There are a few different models in the Arm’s Reach Concepts Bedside Bassinet collection. We are recommending the Mini Ezee 3 in 1 for c-section moms basically of its compactness and versatility.
It is a 3 in 1 bassinet , basically
Bedside bassinet
Free standing bassinet with four wheels to move around the house
Playard when baby is older
What we liked about the Arm’s Reach Mini Ezee 3 in 1 Bedside Bassinet
The Arm’s Reach Mini Ezee 3 in 1 Bedside Bassinet is a combo bassinet and it is targeted for parents who want to maximize their investment. It can be used for more than 6 months as the bassinet packs a playard when the baby gets older.
It is very easy to assemble and easy to move around. Although it has only 2 wheels it is portable and also comes with a travel bag, so you can bring it for road trips and great for travels. The Mini Ezee 3 in 1 is also built compact so you can fit it in small spaces or when you don’t have a large room.
Finally, it is all around mesh which is great for air ventilation and visibility to keep a close eye on your baby.
What we didn’t like about the Arm’s Reach Mini Ezee 3 in 1 Bedside Bassinet
It is a great bedside bassinet but there is just a thing or two about it that we can’t agree to.
Firstly, being a single frame bassinet, you wouldn’t be able to set it to an inclined position to ease reflux or gas.
Secondly, unboxing a new one tends to have a chemical smell to it. Probably need to off-gas it for a few days before you can use it.
And lastly, it stands a little low compared to standard bed height, also you can’t adjust the height settings.

Unilove Hug
Unilove - The Company
Founded by a British couple in 2012, Unilove is a baby gear products company focussing on young couples.
Their baby gear products are designed with a flair combination of design and latest technology in functionality, ergonomics and lightweight products.
And these values have proven to be true as Unilove was awarded the Family Choice Award in 2019 for its 3 in 1 baby booster seat.
Unilove Hug Me Plus Bedside Bassinet
The Unilove Hug Me Plus Bedside Bassinet is a versatile bassinet. It is the perfect bassinet for c-section moms as it is a bedside co sleeper bassinet that will keep mommy close to the baby , allow mommy to breastfeed and recover in comfort from her c-section delivery.
What we liked about the Unilove Hug Me Plus
It is very easy to set it up and dissemble. That is why it makes a great travel / portable crib for travelling. It also comes with a carry bag for easy transport.
The bassinet is also built larger than other bedside bassinets in the market so it is roomier for your baby.
The fabrics are also eco-friendly and side panels are mesh to allow for ventilation and visibility.
They can also be covered to keep out light and retain warmth especially during cold days.
The mattress is made from unique eco-friendly and breathable 3D vertical cotton ideal for sensitive skin.
It is also one of the most stable bedside bassinets we have come across with stabilizing bar, safety and wheel locks to keep it all around sleep safe.
It has 7 adjustable height settings and as there are 2 posts that support the bassinet, adjusting one post higher than the other can allow you to have an inclined setting to relieve your baby from reflux.
What we disliked about the Unilove Hug Me Plus
As unique the fabrics are, you can only dry clean it and that is an inconvenience.
Also, being a larger bassinet, it has a non standard mattress size and it is difficult to find an alternative if your mattress gets damaged or stained.
Lastly, the original sheets that come with it are hard to remove and not waterproof, although there is a workaround by putting a waterproof mat for baby cribs.
PROS
CONS
Why bassinet for c-section moms?
The bassinet has evolved over the years from a simple wicker Moses basket to having more than a dozen variations in the market today.
Most bassinets today can be categorized into 3 types
-Free standing bassinets
Free Standing bassinets are basically a bassinet basket with leg stands to support it. Main difference between bassinets and cribs is the depth. Bassinets are great for c-section and breastfeeding moms so they don’t need to bend and reach down for their babies compared to cribs which are deeper. Bassinets are also more portable compared to a crib.
-Co-sleeper
A co-sleeper bassinet is a bassinet that allows the bassinet to be integrated to the parent’s bed, essentially allowing parents to have a watchful eye over the baby. For c-section moms, this is going to be so comforting when you can have your baby right next to you and recover from major c-section surgery. Also, if you’re breastfeeding too , this allows you easy access to pick up your baby in those sleep deprived 3am feeds.
-Multipurpose
Multipurpose bassinet is usually the mix of bassinet functions which are simply marketed as 2 in 1 or 3 in 1. I’ve just recently found one that is 4 in 1. For instance, a multipurpose bassinet can is a bassinet and also a pack n’ play. Some have multi functions such as a changing station and high chair as well. Multipurpose bassinets are practical as bassinets are usually used up to 6 months and babies will graduate to a pack n’ play.
The American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) recommends an infant to be placed on their backs to sleep from birth until 1 year old. It also recommends a firm sleep surface for babies to sleep on.
The AAP also recommends bassinets for babies to sleep in (other than crib, portable crib or playard) and it is also advised for babies to room share (without sharing beds) with parents for the 1st 6 months.
So, a bedside bassinet is ideal for parents especially breastfeeding and c-section moms. All of the recommended bassinets for breastfeeding above are also in compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). While CPSC is the body that sets the safety regulations for manufacturers to comply, essentially a product with the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) seal is the stamp of approval for the bassinet or product to be fully compliant of all set out safety standards.
What are the features/ to look out for when getting a bassinet for c-section
Functionality
Keeps baby sleeping safe, comfortable for mommy and baby. For c-section mommies, it is important that the bassinet can provide convenience for both mommy and baby.
Bedside co sleeping bassinets usually give mommies delivered via caesarean to have bed rest recovery while being right next to the baby.
Breastfeeding on demand for newborns is usually every 2-3 hours and that means it is best for the baby to be close to mommy, and this is where bedside or co-sleeping bassinets are great.
Stability /Sturdiness/ Built
Many baby gear furniture needs to be built safe - i.e. sturdy and stable. Bassinets for c-section moms need to be sturdy and stable. Please make sure the bassinet is not flimsy or tilts to one side.
Portability
Bassinet with wheels is definitely one that is more advantageous as you can move it from room to room in the house. Also, you may want to consider a bassinet that is easily folded and transported so you can bring it along should the need of travelling arise.
Also when you are recovering from c-section, having a bassinet with wheels allows you to move the bassinet away so you can get up from the bed. It’s already sore enough to get up what more to flex your muscles to lift the bassinet and carry it away.
Ventilation / Mesh Sides
Bassinets are smaller compared to cribs and your baby is likely to move around or toss from side to side when sleeping. Having a meshed wall (if the bassinet is fully mesh it’s even better) allows better air flow and ventilation. It can be also a suffocation hazard if the sides of the bassinet prevents the baby from breathing property (especially non-breathable material).
Mattress
A good waterproof mattress (or mattress protector) is important so you can simply wipe off baby’s vomit or spit. Also, it is easier for you to clean the bassinet if there are any blowout or diaper leaks. So make sure you choose a bassinet that has a waterproof mattress. Or else you could use a bassinet waterproof fitted sheet or mattress protector
Storage
Babies need a few essentials such as diapers, a set of clean clothes, baby wipes and toys to sooth them and much more.
Also, with your c-section wound healing, you tend to move around less especially in the wee hours of the night. Having built in storage in the bassinets allow you to keep a handy water bottle (you’ll be needing it especially when you breastfeed) or anything that you need just a touch away.
If you’re breastfeeding, you’ll definitely want essentials like nipple creams, nursing pads, water bottle, breast milk collector like Hakkaa by your side. You don’t want to be searching for them when you need them. You should pick a bassinet that has a storage basket or compartments to keep these essentials within easy reach. If they don’t have any, you could look out for storage caddies to help you.
Budget
If getting a bassinet is going to blow a hole in your wallet, you may consider renting from Babyquip. They also have rental plans for other baby gear and essentials.
Safety
Last but not least, safety. You should pick a bassinet that is sleep safe and certified by relevant bodies such as JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association) and CSPC (Consumer Product Safety Commission). These certifications are based on American Academy of Paediatricians (AAP) Safe Sleep recommendations and in compliance with American Society for Testing & Materials standards.FAQ
Can newborns sleep in Dockatot?
It is not recommended although some parents allow it. The dockatot is a ounging, supervised napping and tummy time, co-sleeping, changing diapers, cuddling and playing.. The dockatot is like a raft and has protective barriers so the baby doesn't roll over and clearly separates the space for the baby. Dockatot acknowledges that many people believe strongly that infants and young children should never sleep with adults in their bed and has very clear safety guidelines should parents choose to allow their babies to sleep with them in their bed with the Dockatot.
Is bassinet really necessary?
The American Academy of Paediatrics recommends that babies should sleep in their parents’ room but not on the same bed. Bassinet is not really necessary however a crib may not fit a smaller room. Also, a bedside bassinet is great for c-section and breastfeeding mommies to be close to their babies while sleeping on a separate bed.
Infants should sleep in the parents’ room, close to the parents’ bed but on a separate surface (room sharing). The infant’s crib, portable crib, play yard or bassinet should be placed in the parent’s bedroom for at least 6 months but preferably a year.
Why does a baby have to sleep in your room for 6 months?
It helps to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Most SIDS cases occur before 4 months, and the vast majority happen before 6 months.FINAL VERDICT
After reviewing the best 5 bassinets for c-section mommies, we recommend the HALO® Bassinest Swivel Sleeper , our best bassinet for c-section. The HALO is made perfectly for c-section mothers who are also breastfeeding. The 360°rotation and swivel allows flexibility for the baby to be close to mommy. It also allows mommy to get out of the bed easily without needing to move the entire bassinet away.
Coming in a close second is the Arm’s Reach Mini Ezee 3 in 1 due to its versatility. Good for parents that are budget conscious, the Arm’s Reach Mini Ezee 3 in 1 can be used long term as a playard when the baby gets older.
At the end of the day, choosing the best bassinet for c-section is entirely up to you as there are quite a few factors that will decide including budget, functionality, quality, comfort and more importantly safety.
Final Words
